Extractor oil change on Honda 3.7L?

Wondering if anyone has done a fluid extractor type oil Change on a Honda or Acura 3.7L V6? It's time for me to change the oil in my wife's '07 MDX and with my back out it would be a lot easier to go from the top. Then all I'd have to worry about is getting under for the filter -- which I haven't figured out yet.

Regarding the filter issue....and since your an Army Chaplin and officer....possibly you could get an enlisted man or good friend, to do the filter for you. After all , it shouldn't take mare than 5 minute to remove and replace a filter.

I might suggest that you consider a top-tier replacement filter....so you can leave it on for a another change or two. The Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter or Bosch Distance Plus...should accomplish that.

I used the extractor to siphon oil from E430, LS400 and S2000. The easiest is E430 because it is designed to use an extractor.

The LS400 and S2000 is a little difficult in detecting when the hose hits the bottom of the oil pan, Sometime I could get 5qt out of 5.2-5.3 qt, the other times I could get only 4.5qt.

In our 09 Honda Odyssey, the oil extractor will get about 2/3rds of the oil out if memory serves.

Your Acura v6 should be about the same.

Getting the filter off the V6 Honda's typically involves turning the steering wheel to full right lock and looking into the front of the passenger side wheel well. It usually is nestled in there in full view and reach of anyone on their knees looking in that wheel well. It is serviceable (at least on our Ody and our previous TL... an MDX could be different) from there.

Getting the drain plug off requires at least a jack stand under the passenger side front.
