2.3 million toilets in the US and 9300 in Canada have the potential to explode due to a faulty flush assist system.

I guess we can't blame China on this one.

Flushmate has received 304 reports of the product bursting, resulting in property damage and 14 impact or laceration injuries.

Manufactured in: United States

So are they fixing these under recall, or is it like most Chinese junk where the manufacturer would be nowhere to be found when a piece of garbage fails?

We swoon over how great Toyota and Honda are when they recall and repair their faulty items, is Sloan making good on this? If so then what's to see here? Nobody ever said that duds don't come from every country.

And I'd still rather give an American a job making flushers than to give someone in China a job, then pay the American's unemployment like most do. Then they complain about paying it in a most hypocritical way.

Is this a bash the Made in the US thread ? No wander this country is in the shape its in. And with the newer generations thinking this way, we have no hope on fixing it.

Have you read many other threads? Many would love to send US manufacturing up the creek with no chance of return - just nail in the coffin once and for all, in the name of some stupid widgets, a few dimes and some convenience.

Sad.

The pressure relief valve is set a 60psi. There are 2.3 million toilet tanks nationwide. 300 Sloan Flushmate III units have exploded in toilet tanks. Alot of hotels use this model for the water savings.

Hotels like the Luxor in Las Vegas is what they have installed. I'm sure they are not turning off the toilets and not renting room because this.

We had a high pressure toilet that blew the heck up at my parents house a few years ago. Come to find out there was a recall on it. Thankfully there was no one in the bathroom at the time because they would've been seriously injured.

I have a toilet with flushmate and was recalled previously due to another defect (leak in the seam that reduces the pressure over time and leak water out of the tank). They just send me a replacement that I install myself.

I love the system, and would not hesitate to buy another one if I replace toilet.

I have a Flushmate in my master bathroom toilet. Uses 1.0 gallon and flushes quite strongly, it's never backed up once. I will have to check it against the recall list.

The other toilets are more conventional and flush 1.28 gallons. I also have a front-loading washing machine. I got a letter from the local water company congratulating me on using less water than 75% of the residents in my area. lol...
