Experiences buying tires at Walmart.com??

I am searching for a deal on tires in 245/40/19 because mine are starting to get low but it’s not an immediate situation. I found these Pirelli tires last night but Walmart’s website is a bit confusion and I am not sure what I will actually end up with if I actually order. In the picture, the header says Pirelli P Zero All Season, that’s okay but seem like the All Season Plus has been out since 2016 and has pretty good reviews. Same class as a Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ or a Conti DWS 06. So that’s the first issue. Is it really a plain P Zero All Season? Or is it the Plus. Second, the picture is flat out wrong.
If I buy for a total of $508 out the door and have them delivered to a Walmart store how much of a pain is it to return them if it’s not what I want? They could be very old or not what I’m looking for. $508 in that size is a very good deal on a new tire.

I have purchased at least 12 - 4 tire set and never an issue. I always have the tires mounted and balanced at the time of delivery. Old stock? Never. Ed

Although I believe that your experience is going to be store/region dependent, I do know others who have purchased tires at our local Walmart stores and are very happy.

I have not purchased tires from W*M however, for over a decade my car buddies and I have had our online tire purchases installed at W*M and are very happy with the price, installation and care that was given with our wheels and the overall quality of the balance. Should a re-balance be needed, they took care of us.

Also, lifetime balance, rotation and free flat repair was included in our carry-in price. Although our NY State tire disposal was once waved on carry-in tires, this is no longer free. We too are now charged the $2.50/tire disposal fee.

When buying tires at W*M, the installation fee is cut in half to $12.50/tire compared to carry-in tires($24.95) when it was once the same price(~$18/tire) which is another perk for buying tires from them.

Again, IDK how it works at all W*M stores around the country.

Some of the best buys ever from Walmart, always recent production and free pickup in NH (no sales tax), stop at my friends place to mount, balance and align it for the price of coffee and donuts (I do my own work).

I'm Discount Tires now, but I had a set of super cheap China radials dropped off at Walmart. No problems for me though the guys at DT commented about bending a tire iron taking them off. They were a snug fit

I had tires installed on 5 different cars, plus my company car without any problems.

There is nothing wrong with buying tires from Walmart. Their prices are good, an their install is good because they actually use appropriate torque and don't put the air gun overtorque it like most shops do. The only problem is that wait times can exceed 4 hours, but that was before they started taking appointments.

Their tire installation was closed (some still are), but some have reopened. Each store manager gets to make the decision to reopen or not.

The one time that I did it was a very positive experience.
Before I retired, I had one of the OE Dunlops on my Accord blow at 5:15 AM due to some road debris.
Got to work, and called a couple of Dunlop dealers. Both quoted $130. and 48 hours to get one.
I got on Walmart.com at noon, and amazingly enough found the same tire for $79.88, and they claimed that they could have the tire at the store (It was not a tire in stock) of my choice by 3PM. Obviously, I bought it.
Got to the store by 4. They had the tire, took it down to TLE, installed it, and I was on the road by 4:45.
Would not hesitate to buy from them again if they had what I want at the right price.

Walmart did not clean allow rims properly and I always had a slow leak even after they dismounted and cleaned the rim and remounted. Tire hacks.

I buy from them often. Never an issue, in fact, they usually arrive ahead of the quoted shipping date.

I mount and balance at home, so no experience with local Walmarts for install.

I once ordered four tires on their website to be shipped to the local TLE for installation. Three tires made it but the last one got lost in transit somehow. Walmart offered to ship another tire but it would take two weeks. I didn't have time to wait that long, as I had already waited two weeks for the other ones to arrive. I decided to cancel the entire order but it was surprisingly difficult and required multiple calls to the main Walmart customer service line. Considering the usual long lines and lack of an appointment system at TLEs, I feel like a dodged a bullet. I ended up finding the same tires for cheaper elsewhere and had them installed at a local tire shop in an hour.

Buying tires is great. Installation varies widely and can’t be 100% trusted. Also install may take all day.

Some of the tires come from Simpletire . The maufacture dates are usually within months . Dates may be older now due to tire sales slowing down because of Covid-19 .

I purchased 4 new tires from Walmart.com earlier this year. Best price, free shipping to store, low cost mount and balancing, fresh date codes on all 4 tires, and they were installed and balanced well. Heck, they even inflated all 4 tires to the correct PSI.
I had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised.

My dad has those Pirelli on his car they are great they grip like heck in the rain and snow. As for buying them at Walmart I don’t know we don’t buy them there and if we do it’s in the store.

I've ordered many sets from them at this point. Never a problem when shipped to the house. Even after paying another shop $100 to mount and balance them (4 tires), it's still a money savings over buying anywhere else.

I tend to buy a set and have them on hand when I know I'm getting close to needing them.

That’s great to hear! My Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ are about 4 or 5 years old and are becoming ice skates

I was going to buy the tires on my Jeep from Walmart. Someone mentioned that Discount price matches so I took my printed ad there and saved a few more bucks. I was also given a free road hazard cert.

Could these be a walmart-only model? They do that, eg goodyear viva, that are only available there.

I've had only good experiences, both with them mounting tires, and me doing it myself.
