Fram Tough Guard on the shelf for $11.00 + taxes

You're in Canada. Apparently everything is more expensive up there. Even the highest end Fram the Extended Guard is only $8 in the US.

I feel for the folks north of the border when it comes to filter choices and prices. We argue/discuss about Puro, Wix, M1, Champ. etc., but at least we have readily available choices at relatively reasonable price, especially compared to those shown.

Do they have Super Tech's on the Wally shelf in Canada? That would make a decent/better alternative.

According to the information on the Fram box at Walmart, they are manufactured in Canada. You would think that Walmart-Canada would be able to get a better deal.

Nope, our Walmarts don't sell the Super Tech filters, just Fram. We don't even get the Extended Guard filters at our Walmarts either, but we can get them at Canadian Tire and Part Source. I just picked up an Extended Guard filter on sale at Part Source a couple of weeks ago for $9.99.

Yes, the OCOD for the 7317 is to the left in the picture, which is priced at $6.

I enjoy reading all the discussions on this board regarding oil and filter choices. In Canada, Wix/Napa is readily available as are the Frams. Wix/Napa can be purchased at select independent auto parts stores, but sadly, only Frams can be found at Wally's. ST are available only in the US.

For comparison, you can buy a Wix for $8, Napa Gold for $9, OCOD for $6 or a Fram TG for $11. Still, I like the choices when I travel to the US. Purolator classic for under $5 and P1 for under $6 at Kmart is, in my opinion, one of the better deals to be found.

For the average driver looking to do normal OCI (5-7k), it seems that there is a general consensus on the idea that Puros are the best of the bunch for the price.

LOL. I wouldn't use it either simply because I wouldn't care about the few dollars saved over a different (better) brand. I'd have to say though that $2-2.50 might be a fair price for the Fram.

I thought you were mistaken or joking...until I looked in my local Wally's about an hour ago...by golly, they're $3.00! The last time I looked they were $4.49; that's a huge change. STILL won't use them, though...well...maybe on a beater.

They have dropped to 3 dollars here aswell. AFAIK

sometimes I have to use them in the Jeep because they dont stock very many ST's for my jeep.

Walmart cranked up the prices of oil filters in Canada last summer. I was shocked when I saw how steep of an increase it was. I could care less as I would never buy a filter from them anyways.
