Wife and i are expecting our first child later this year so we've been contemplating trading in the Corolla for something larger. Well, we took her Santa Fe Sport in to Hyundai for service and the Sales team sold me on a 2017 Sonata Sport 2.4L. Since the new, refreshed body style has recently been released, and the one i wanted was a Demo with 3,000 miles, i got a pretty good deal, not withstanding the Corolla's negative equity.

Ill share picks in the morning.

So you got stung by Toyota's neg equity too, huh? Sucks, doesn't it? I lost $8,000 on a Prius V trade in. That POS lost value like a Mercedes.

Anyone could see that coming. They are not popular cars and gas prices are low. However-negative equity is usually a result of putting little down.

How much did you put down on the Prius?

If the 2017 protects human cargo as well or better than the 2013 Sonata that basically saved my sons life during a head on crash, then you chose wisely. Safety ratings is #1 on my buying list when shopping for new cars.

Congratulations on the new addition. Enjoy it now because they will be graduating high school before you know it. And do prepare yourself and home for the terrible twos, and that does include securing the refrigerator. Woke up a couple times with whip cream all over me!

Congrats !! Your world view is about to change as you bring your son or daughter into the world. Things about society that you used to not be as concerned about will begin to matter more to you.

Just saw Hyundai's newest commercial, and just please tell us that you guys are not going to be singing along to Neil Diamond in the new Sonata ...

My wife and I were driving 2 door SAABS for many years after our child was born. No big deal...we didn't do the "parent martyr" bit.

It is over man. Run while you can...

Congrats on the little one that will be blessing you soon.

Plus nice to have something new. We picked up our Malibu like that. It was title new. It had 4200 miles on it.

MSRP was 35,000 we paid 24900 for it.

One cannot go wrong with a Sonata, we bought an 09 sonata with 55K on it and now have 189k on and it runs very well and no rust despite all of the salt on the streets in a Lincoln Nebraska winter. Consumer report does not rate sonata very high but IMO it is as good or better than Camry or Accord and at a much better price. I aim to drive it to at least the 250K mark.Hyundia makes a fine product at a decent price, they are most always less than Honda or Toyota. Congrats on Sonata and new baby.
