Decided to go ahead and switch these babies out to avoid getting in a bind and having to spend a ton at the parts store for their overpriced junk. Bought two of these group 27 for $150 ea. Curbside pickup too at Walmart 🤣 batteries were dated 7/20. Places dont seem to have many batteries this time of year for some reason. I have two interstate deep cycle batteries on the boat also that are from 2019 I think. Is it Johnson controls that makes both of these brands?

Uh, buying batteries curbside here in TX you get additional core charges and fees, so its not a smart option.
I would have also refused batteries at that age. Interesting life choices you are making.

What does 7/20 mean? July 20th? July 2020?

Was the label cut off and it was really 7/2025?

I doubt any store has a battery on the shelf from 2020.. Someone should be going through and returning any that are over a certain age. Like 6 months.

My old batteries were dated July 2020. These ones I bought which were the same were only a month old. As good as it gets.

I just had to replace my newest Maxx battery two days ago with another Everstart Maxx. It still cranked the engine ok but was starting to get slow initially when cranking . It was purchased in 2015. I knew it was time when the radio lost its memory settings on a recent cold morning because the cranking voltage got so low. I got my money's worth. I still have another Maxx (2014) and a Plus (2012) which still test good.

I dont think so. Dont see why I cant bring my cores back myself.
You can certainly bring your cores back latter on to Walmart. Just don't wait a year like I did. Took then almost an hour to figure out how to do the refund.

Remember the goal of battery core charge is to get the batteries back to be recycled, not tossed in landfill. The state laws usually force the core charge and then force a refund when core is returned.

If place places "don't seem to have batteries around" how and the heck can Walmart who is the largest battery seller in your area have two common sized laying around collecting dust for five plus years?

I dont know why everyone thinks this. I went out and bought two replacement everstart maxx group 27 batteries for my 2nd gen ram to replace the 5.5 year old everstart max batteries currently in it. I replaced the old ones with the exact same new ones. If you had a battery last that long, wouldn't you do your best to replace it with the same model? Batteries aren't really that great these days. So when i find a good brand, I stick with it.

It didnt have anything to do with waiting a year. They need to have e a manager type in their approval password to do the swap. I almost had to come back three times once becaise no manager was available, but after a few smart remarks from me, they found one 🤣 Also, the automotive department closes at a different time than the rest of tbe store, so you have to do it before 7.

Sorry I get confused easily. I thought you were saying the batteries you just bought were five plus years old. Yeah I like Everstart max.
Just replaced one pushing seven years old with another Everstart max.

Because your original post made it sound that way.
