I sold my Jeep Wrangler last night. Advertised it in the paper on Monday, the second person that looked at it bought it (after confirming that it was in exceptional condition with his mechanic).

Great sale, no problems. But now I feel like I've lost a friend. There were a lot of great miles in that Jeep and it had gotten me home several times in near-blizzard condtions when few other vehicles would have.

Yes and no. Sold my faithful '87 Volvo 240 wagon "Viktor" (yes, we name all the Volvos) awhile back to ex-gf, but she still brings it by every six months or 5K for an oil change and "look-see" under the hood. If/when she comes back by in December, it will be time for ATF and a timing belt.

The only real pain I feel is selling a car that's paid for and having to make car payments. Other than the pain of new financial obligations I feel no remorse.

Cars are very easy to get attached to, especially if you've been driving them a long time and they've been good and reliable. I know that my wife especially and I were sad to see her Honda Civic go. The thing that makes it easier is that we're both very happy with our new minivan. Still, vehicles can become like a pet. There's a sense of loss when you have to part with them.

Keep your chin up, Mike. You'll get over it in time. Just remember the good times and the Jeep will always be with you.
