U.S. consumers are finally gravitating to electric vehicles. Now it’s up to charging infrastructure to keep pace.

EV sales made up about 7 percent of all new light vehicle sales last year, according to data released by the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, which represents the auto industry. That’s up from 4.3 percent in 2021 and 2.3 percent in 2020. Light truck sales accounted for 68 percent of the EV market in the last quarter of 2022.

Hoping the problem of how common they are plus maintaining what’s already online continues to improve. Gas pumps of course have a X decade head start but the UX currently sounds annoying especially when multiple networks and apps are included.

Granted, ideally one would only need these on longer trips, not counting multi-family housing.

Im struggling to understand this.

Didn’t read but I’m betting it’s that “light truck” classification as in anything from a crossover/SUV to pickups.

It's got to be something like that as the actual "light truck" that were sold aren't near that number.

They are probably lumping in the Model Y.

Here it is from their quarterly report - they include SUV's or " UV's" as they say.

As a result, non-car segments are continuing to make gains, and in the fourth quarter of 2022, light truck (UVs, minivans, and pickups) sales comprised more than 68 percent of the EV market.

I trust that if there is demand for EV chargers, some company with deep pockets will install them and make a profit.

News Flash! When Henry Ford starting producing automobiles there were not any gas stations. The Interstate Highway system wasn't started until 1956. The EV infrastructure will be built. I too am guessing the light trucks include other vehicles as well.

That might be a better fit to "light truck". There's nothing light about the electric trucks so far. 😂

Smart move, I have owned Walmart stock since it was in the double digits, hoping they continue to keep clawing away with new ideas. This is a smart one and their automation plans eliminating workers.
Our Walmarts have had chargers for years. Dang things are everywhere. And they get the best parking!
