It's almost past the warranty mileage so not really worried about itWhat does your owner's manual say?
Thinking warranty.
Euro 30 is very close to 40 so no worry. I'd rather use their no vii euro 10w-40 if it's garaged. https://www.advlubrication.com/products/no-vii-engine-oils?variant=42753825833153
That 540 will be alright. If you were to use just off the wally shelf 30/40 euro oil I'd still expect it to do a quarter million but with frequent changes of 5k or less. If I owned one of those I wouldn't leave oil cleanliness to chance even though uoa's have shown cheap euro oils can do around 10k but I still wouldn't do it.Thanks didn't know that a Euro spec was available for that oil. Right now, a 12qt case is the minimum order, which is fine since a 6 pack would be too few for this engine, and it's only a few bucks more than the regular Euro passenger oil.
Now I'm kicking myself for not buying this for my '17 540ix last year![]()
Yes, that was my follow up question if any HPL staff sees this thread after the Easter holiday.Either will work well but I like a 40wt for this application. Tough one for my mind is the OCI. I wouldn't be running 10k despite the ability of HPL. What OCI? A lot would depend upon the driving habits for my comfort level.
Yes, I am an HPL aristocrat now. I can't show up to my indy mechanic with a case of Super tech after the OLM lights up, that would be embarrassingI wouldn't leave oil cleanliness to chance even though uoa's have shown cheap euro oils can do around 10k but I still wouldn't do it.
Funny enough the new supertech 0w-40 has impressive characteristics in the pds for an off the shelf sub $30 oil and it has 60% PAO as per the sds.Yes, that was my follow up question if any HPL staff sees this thread after the Easter holiday.
I am 3300 miles into my 1st OCI w/ 5W40 Euro on my 2017 model, so I was wondering how long it should run to get the full cleaning effect. After this first HPL fill, it will probably get 5k intervals.
And hopefully this won't make other BMW owners disgusted when I say I drive like an old lady in eco pro mode 95% of the time
Sometimes I go WOT but that's only after I put redline si-1 in the tank

No downside other than lacking LL01 or upside. The advlubrication site recommends 5W30 Euro for LL04, what would be the downside of putting 5W40 Euro into a '23 540ix?
The car is garaged so I am not really worried about starts in freezing temps.
