Yea..but she has 30K in CC debt. The house they are walking (running into) is the "poorhouse". I'm sick just thinking about her situation. She is probably happy as a clam. Armagedon is about to errupt in that household.

Yes Al, net worth is - 15k at a minimum.

My niece has been heard to say, "If you let money stop you from doing things, you wouldn't do anything."

I can't tell you how upset this makes me. She is a wonderful girl who gave her sister a kidney.

Well Al. My niece is going to buy a house for $275k with no money down, $15k in savings, $30k in credit card debt, two car loans/leases, 3 children, and a family income of less than $40k.

Does anyone think this will work?

15K in cash, 30K in credit card debt, and car loans?? That does not compute. That's bad enough, even if you own your own home.

Happened to my neighbor's sister. The lenders smelled blood in the water. She's being set up.

I'm sure you can't convince them to go for something modest and work on eliminating the debt.

No need to worry about what you can't control. All you can do is to give good advise.

Only in America! Jeez, the stress would kill me.

Mori, I never thought I would say it, but this is one area where Germany is superior and seems to use more common sense. We have to get the credit card and credit bureau industry under control.

Not being political or religious at all here, but the borrower is slave to the lender. People are being enslaved by debt and the credit bureaus seem free to operate like the Gestapo and invade our privacy.

I hate regulation and govt. intervention, but the situation is out of control.

I just signed up for this site a month ago to learn and to ask questions, but real estate is one thing that I do know. I'm a real estate agent in Florida, but even before that I was avid reader and study of all forms of residential real estate.

Now is NOT the time to buy!!! Please stress that to anybody that you know....check out this site for all the latest articles pertaining to this...

I make money off people buying property, but if people ask my opinion I tell them...it's peaked. Think about it like this....AOL and CISCO (the NASDAQ leaders) lead the NASDAQ on the way up and if you watched them closely you could have perdicted the NASDAQ crash of 2000. Same concept in real estate...San Diego appreciated more than any other city the last 5 years....guess what? San Diego is currently starting to feel a correction...front page news 2 days ago...

Using my Nasdaq analogy...the rest of the r.e. market will slowly but surely experience their own corrections based on how artificially inflated they are.
