Without the recent scandal this would be a good promotional video for Nokian Tyres also.

Cool Story Bro (Finland & Nokian Tires) -ETCG1

Thanks for posting the video here.

I've been to Sweden, Norway, and Denmark but I missed Finland..I want to go back to Europe and visit Finland and Estonia too. I've heard Tallinn is an incredibly preserved historical city that has buildings in perfect condition dating back to the 14th century.

We had a colleague from Mexico visiting our site last summer. He asked me how many months per year we have "cold weather". I asked if he meant below 0C because that's cold in my book. He replied to me that he feels that anything below +10C is cold. He didn't like my answer...

At Southern Finland we get:
- Day's peak temperature above +25C (77F, i.e. "boiling hot") = 10 to 20 days per year
- Average temperature above +10C (50F) = 5 months
- Average temperature above 0C (32F) = 7 months

On the other hand I didn't like his story about his childhood when temperature at summer was above +30C (86F) even at night. And no air conditioning... Phew! That's too hot.

My friend spent his whole one month vacation in USA a couple years ago with his wife and two children. They flew from Finland to California, rented a car from there and drove to New York. And of course the route was via Las Vegas etc. A coast to coast road trip.

His trip gave me some valuable "inside information" about USA. Before his trip I always thought that USA is just one big unite county. But after he's trip I realized that all the states are in reality like different countries (a bit like EU vs. Finland). In his trip people were amazed when they saw the rental car's Californian license plates: "Wow have you really driven through all those other states?" And the farther they drove from the California, the more people were amazed. Just like someone with Spain's or UK's license plates would come to Finland. That's a quite rare occasion.

My intention is to travel to USA someday. New York would be the most probable destination, as it is one of the closest cities to Europe. Hopefully it will happen within the next ten years or so. I really want to see those skyscrapers with my own eyes.

But there's a lot to see in Europe also. And in Asia. And in South America. Canada would be nice to see also. And Japan and China and...

So many places, and so little time (and money)...

You'll get here.

Years ago a Finnish lady introduced me to a Swedish folkdancing club. She was a Swedish speaking Finn. Half the club was Swedish born. I met lots of people.

I spent a lot of time in the Nordic countries and Scandinavia.....wouldn't trade those experiences for the world.
There were "country dances" well out in the woods in Finland. It was so fun as I learned that the inlanders were the ones who spoke Finnish and the coastal dwellers were predominatingly Swedish speaking.

Do you know jokes are made about the relative sophistication of those two camps?

I scooted about the lakes in flat boats and used manually operated locks and bridges. We drank beer which was flammable.
"Beer #1 is what you drink if you're driving and #2 is stronger", my pal said. I asked which one I was drinking and he said, "4b". OMG!

I could go on and on but I'll spare you. Kira

Yes, the old part of the city is quite nice. Have been there twice for a day trip, but maybe I should take the next trip more as a real tourist and look around more. I think I haven't appreciated it enough. Probably because it's too close, only a two hour journey from Helsinki with a fast ferry.

I hope you both have been in sauna? It's a great invention! How can anyone get along without a sauna? I don't get it

You surely know what you are talking about! Beers I and III you can buy from the grocery store (and in Sweden they have also beer II), but IVA and IVB you can get only from the liquor store. And the IVB is strong like bull!
