Happy New Year everyone.I have not been here a while and i read most of the great motor oil posts but what i didnt see was how Esso dino stands up.My wifes car uses castrol syntec 5w40 all year round but i like to here positive stuff about Esso extra 5w30.I seen a 5 litre jug running at 13 bucks at the superstore.Seems a great motor oil for the money. Thanks

is 0w30 best oil from ESSO .. its PAO ... and its cheap too ...

Esso XD3 0w-30 and 0w-40 are great oils! If you are in Alberta go to UFA and get polar plus it is XD3.
As for esso dino oils i am not too sure. Go to a bulk dealer and ask for a lubricant handbook. I got one from Petro Canada and it has me thinking about trying some of their oils this summer.

maybe try a search of the UOA's for esso oils and see what comes up.

Thanks Ndx and tuckman i will check the bulk dealer in my area and see if i can get the hand book if not i can get more information on this stuff on the same token while i talk to them.13 bucks for 5w30 extra and its hard to pass the price up over the other oils thats a little pricy

I ran Esso 10w30 in my Saturn for a while, no complaints.

Costco has 12 (1L jugs) for $26 or something. I had a case of that last year that I used. Good price!

I never seen Esso brands at costco in my town.I guess it varies from store to store.Out here in windsor at the zehrs superstore on walker road has a great selection of pennzoil i believe shell is there etc includeing esso brands that are dirt cheap..so ya i bought the esso 5w30 extra and did my oil change. I went on their web site and read everything about it and the pour point flash and the viscosity numbers are right where i need them so im comfortable after researching it.

I work in the Food Service industry and I opened a restaurant in the Walker Town Center in Windsor and went to the Costco. It was there as of a year ago. Maybe they don't carry it anymore. Just remember seeing it when I was there...

You know what, after reading your response and giving it a minute's thought, I think I picked up the Esso 12 pack from Sam's club.. Costco/Sams, hard to distinguish if you ask me :P

But yeah, Costco has the Shell/Castrol, and Sam's had the Esso oils. Same price as the Shell oil at Costco too if i recall correctly.. around $26.
