If you had gold at your place of business, in the wilderness, and a bunch of armed guys wearing body armor showed up, would you think "oh, hey, this is just an inspection on our water" or would you think, "we're about to be robbed at gunpoint"?
These are the environmental inspectors, so why do they need to be wearing body armor and flaunting guns?
The paramilitary approach might make sense when taking down a meth lab, but it doesn't make sense for an environmental inspection...
