Shouldn't Canadians with modern fuel-injected automatic-transmission-equipped vehicles be more concerned about transmission warmup than engine warmup?
I mean, the only good way of warming up an automatic transmission is to actually drive the thing. Sitting stationary, in Park or Neutral imparts little to no heat to an automatic transmission, and as a result, they tend to run like garbage in the cold, and probably represent substantial parasitic losses as well.
And after all, the reason why one might consider 'warming up' a car is for engine longevity. However, pretty much any modern engine will outlive the life of the automatic transmission it is attached to, so why not focus more on the transmission in terms of warm-up and pre-heat efforts?
