You might need to set the deck up a little to keep from stalling when you mow over them. Other than that, your old Briggs should handle them just fine...quote:

Uh huh; but I've had bad luck with carb bowls. If it's an old mower and you pull it to clean out crude and rust, or flush something that it keeping the float and cut-off from keeping the carb from flooding, invariably the blowl leaks or needle valve and it's off to the local Mower service center for a new rubber gasket at a ridiculous price. It cost me $8 for my Tecumseh (Troybilt Rototiller, you could only get a 'kit'). All in all, I'm ok with the design.
The mower also was hard to pull-start this season. When I took it apart it was obvious why; the crankshaft was bent. My son must've hit something. And the warp made it hard to spin freely in the lower half of the crankcase housing. You could easily see the deflection without a straight-edge. I hammered it back fairly close ($40 for a crankshaft replacement? no way on a $100 mower!). It starts on the first pull.
