2011 Odyssey threw a bunch of codes on startup. P0302, P0118, No DTC Definition Found. ABS Pump Motor Relay Short Circuit and Malfunction on the right front wheel speed sensor.
This is my girlfriend's Odyssey. Rarely do I have the joy of chasing down an issue like this.
CEL and Traction Control light showed the day after a one day beach trip. She pays attention and I trust I have facts not a girl version. Saturday she drives to the beach and back. Claims that around 80mph it felt slightly down on power but she could be wrong. The Odyssey had 6 people in it.
Sunday, on start up the CEL and traction control light are lit. TPMS is on too but that's always on.
Van has 138 k on it. 20ish k a go it had new plugs and a coil pack replaced by a not great shop.
My initial guess was that the misfire was going to be on the cylinder that had the aftermarket coil plug and that proved to be correct. Though the van ran smooth when I looked at it first.
Cylinder 2 had a no name coil on it. It did have the correct NGK iridium plug pictured, fouled. VCM...
Quick and dirty, I cleaned this Iridium plug with a soft brass brush and put it on cylinder 5. Put nice cyl 5 plug on 2. I was able to get a OEM Hitachi coil pack delivered the next morning and put it on cylinder 2.
Disconnected the battery and gave it a real charge. Battery is healthy.
She swears she didn't run over anything or drive through water the day before.
Is it possible a failing coil pack was somehow drawing such a significant amount of voltage that it would interfere with the other sensors? When I removed the bad coil pack after the van ran for me from cold for just a minute or less, it was burning hot. The coil pack off cylinder 5 I pulled was only barley warm.
As of right now it's on maybe it's third trip of the day with no returning lights. I'll check for pending codes tonight or tomorrow.
