Engine Sensors oem or aftermarket

What is everyones opinion about engine sensors such as the cps camshaft positioning sensor... maf sensor (mass air flow) the oxygen sensor etc.
Would you buy from an auto parts store of oem dealer?
 
Most aftermarket MAFs are remans they are usually fine. O2 sensors I like Denso for Japanese cars and Bosch for most American & Europeans.
 
I get stuff like MAPs, MAFs, TPSs and Oil pressure sending units from the dealer. I haven't needed any of those in years though. I get the rest of the stuff from whoever has it in stock.
 
Sensors like TPS, Coolant, Air temp, O2, I'd go OEM. Not worth the hassle to me YMMV.

for o2 sensors, I get close to OE.. I'm a big fan of NTK because of the price and the quality/reputation. My Ranger pickup loves it.
I've used Bosch in the past, and they're ok, Motorcraft O2 sensors are made by Bosch, you can even see the Bosch p/n stamped on them as well.
my big beef with Bosch is lack of sensors the newer cars, whereas Denso and NTK have been keeping up.
I've also used AC Delco o2's, they're nothing special. It didn't last any longer than the Bosch ones I had.

the TPS, coolant, air temp, MAF, I always go aftermarket if at all possible. There's no advantage to thinking about OE sensors unless it simply isn't made. Of course, I only use Standard Ignition or Airtex sensors, and sometimes AC Delco (although they're all reboxed). I've never had an issue with an aftermarket sensor.

i have played with others and installed others, only to have them mess up. OEM or nothin, unless your broke and really have to gamble
 
I've had no issues with the Bosch direct-fit OEM replacement oxygen sensor in my Saturn. It has given me over 23,000 miles of trouble-free service.
 
Replaced a camshaft positioning sensor on a 96 plymouth voyager 3.3 from advanced auto parts and it seems to be bad it started but a few days later hard to start one time and got another code po340
Maybe a mopar one would be better??
 
a lot of time aftermarket parts like that are reboxed oem parts. Sometimes the aftermarket is even more expensive. I usally see who has what and the price. For the most part the aftermarket stuff is fine from what I've seen.

+1 been there done that. Maybe some cars are more demanding than others, I tried after market EGR [I know not a sensor] TPS, CTS, and had all 3 mess up in very short order in Ford applications. Same goes for PCV valves [I now not a sensor]. I found out the hard way, obviously not everyone has a problem. My $.02.
 
Aftermarket sensors usually work fine for me. However, DPFE sensors usually last about 1/2 as long as an OE sensor, and OE sensors are weak to begin with.

Bosch O2 sensors will replace OE non-Bosch part to end an O2S error code. However, when a car has a Bosch from the factory, it tends not to last as long as a car with Denso or NTN from the factory. I am not sure why that is.

Some Japanese cars with EFI and a distributor are prone to failure, so I just buy rebuilds.

If I encounter a Hitachi sensor, I would much rather use another Hitachi because my mom's 85 Maxima scorched everything under the hood, yet never had a single check engine light or smog failure, and back in the 1980s both problems were common.

Not all of them. It depends on the application. Some are made by NTK.
 
I'd vote OEM also. Even on the Festiva's the Denso branded O2 sensor (factory original) seem to work better than aftermarket Bosch. Also the OEM thermostat is a dual stage and most aftermarket are not. Big difference in how it warms up with the dual-stage versus the single. But I guess it could depend on the vehicle but I'll spend the extra for oem.
