engine oil filter instead of trans filter

can you use a engine oil filter instead of a trans filter? the spin on type for both.this would be for a 96 saturn.

Cross reference the Saturn p/n on the websites for the oil filter companies and see if it also comes up as an oil filter. If it doesn't I wouldn't do it.

Remote transmission filter kits use a standard oil filter.. so I don't see why not. Just make sure the bypass settings are the same.

According to my filter info it requires a hydraulic filter so I would not take the chance.

Just checking WIX, the tranny filter WIX 57101 is less than $10 and not worth the risk using an engine oil filter.
The burst strength is at 780 while the engine oil filter for the same engine is only 275, so don't use an oil filter.
