Here is an interesting video of a Golf R EA888.3 engine tear down with 240+ thousand miles on it and it has obviously been very well taken care of. It’s literally spotless inside yet a failure to maintain a non oil related component caused an internal failure.
Lesson learned is when chasing a misfire, chase it hard and get it fixed quickly.

Just watched this early.

Bet this car had a box tune.

Watched it too. Not sure I agree with the conclusion. It burns a valve and then the misfire proceeds to take out the rod bearings?

I'm kinda leaning towards, not related failures. The rod bearings were worn and perhaps the one that spun was on the bad cylinder (don't remember now), but the valve gave up for other reasons.

I just remember him complaining about it coming from NH and that every bolt was going to fight him going forward. I wasn't filled with sympathy. :ROFLMAO:
