Engine Crankcase Flushing on GM Vehicles

I did plenty while my cars were under warranty. No more paranoid than short interval synth OCIs. Never had a problem....
I felt bad everytime a service writer sold an engine flush. I have never seen any positive results from a flush, but have seen a flush loosen up enough crud to clog up the pickup screens on more than a few 4.6s. If you have taken care of your engine, you don't need a flush to begin with, likewise if you have abused your engine and have sludge/gunk buildup in it a flush can loosen up enough junk to cause problems later on. In my book that is a lose-lose situation, IMHO. We would have never done them if the service writers didn't get a $15 spif on every flush they sold.
^Completely agree with Punisher. For whatever reason an "internal engine service" is part of GM's recommended services every 10,000km's I think. The customers get that in their stupid letters from GM. I usually try and talk the customer out of it unless they seem to want to do exactly what the book says. I do make commision, but this "service" is just a $10 bottle of cleaner put in before the oil change, so I make 5% on $10 on top of the $22.95 oil change. I can't morally try and talk someone into doing something I don't feel is beneficial. Also, GM doesn't seem to try and void warranties from what I've seen. They will even cover things out of warranty in some cases. Nobody ever hears the good things, only the bad things and that will never change.
Not according to any official (meaning it's in the owner's manual or the shop manual (Techline)) GM maintenance schedule I've ever seen...and I've looked at a few.
Dealerships may recommend this service, but they recommend a LOT of things that are not in the official GM maintenance schedule. (Ford, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes dealerships all do the same thing so (some people) should stop crying about how "GM sux0rs d3wd!")
Why is it that every time I read something from GM I have this deep rooted suspicion that its real intent is to screw the owner of a GM vehicle? Now I know that its not bc that GM has stonewalled major defects like Intake maniford leaks, piston slap, auto tranny problems in the 80's, and brake problems in the late 80's and early 90's.
I suspect its intent is just to find another reason to void warranties.

Al the bigger question who is doing an engine flush while its under warrenty? Also it has been stated many times on here that an heavy solvent flush is not recommend.
Eh, like i said, it never did anything to MY cars. I do recommend a short interval filter change after doing one, but...
