My S2000 does not have engine cover. It doesn't needed too.

Mine came with one, then I took it off and ran without it for awhile. Recently I installed a Trick Flow intake plenum which faces the wrong direction so the writing on it is backwards. I made a simple bracket to allow installation of the cover so you cant see it anymore.
The Ford Crown Victoria comes with an engine cover but they generally get removed by the fleet garage and never re-installed. Somewhere there must be a stockpile of thousands of Crown Vic engine covers.
So you guy`s dont think it would hurt anything to remove the engine cover on my RX? I have plastic stuff underneath the vehicle I`d love to get rid of too. But that serve`s a purpose with airflow or something.
Some of those with engine covers look a lot like the underhood on a Hot Wheels car--just s bumpy blob of plastic. Worse yet, I think auto stylists are using Hot Wheels for inspiration to create some of the ugliest cars ever.

But be very careful about the underbody. I'm sure Toyota manages the airflow under the vehicle carefully, there could be some consequences to stability at speed, fuel economy and such due to altering the airflow.

Most engine covers are [by far!] for looks.
Extreme condition in hot weather may be benefited by their removal, but not for normal circumstances.
And in winter, the covers should HELP, by retaining heat!

I love that my car does not have any pointless engine covers. The metal exhaust heat shield does hide some stuff, but at least it has a purpose. The turbo is so close to the firewall that if the turbo had no shield, the heat from it could cause damage to something.

Maybe I'll try it on and off this winter to see if the car gets up to temp any differently. It is nicely padded underneath and has hooks to route dangly cables around it.
Typically I take them off, but on the FX there are all kinds of vacuum lines, solenoids, misc wiring, plumbing, etc. It just looks messy and obiviously was laid out knowing that it would be covered. So I leave it on. In this case it is just a plastic ring with foam underneath, it still leaves the majority of the intake runners exposed, so at least it kind of looks like an engine.
A buddy of mine has an IS350 Lexus, his engine cover significantly quiets his fuel injectors - down to just loud.

There are at least three or four different designs about of differing sizes. CVPIs got them up through 2005 then they were decontented out.

Its one of the larger variants because my original intake tube bent towards the front of the engine at a near 90* and in the middle was a Hemholtz resonator that went across the engine under the cover.

I must point out my least favorite aspect of the plastic engine cover: WHY WHY WHY do them make the oil fill cap built in a dish in the cover that catches and acumulates sand and [censored] to when you take your oil cap off to change the oil you inevitably get a bunch of crud down into your engine!!!!!! BAD DESIGN!!! BAD!!!

Yes, I hate those. Also, if you spill oil around it or overflow the fill hole the oil goes under the cover which just makes clean up a pain. If one of the fleet had something like that it would have been thrown in a dumpster long ago.
