Engine Cleaning Oils and Additives are Snake Oil..

I’m currently running Valvoline Restore and Protect in my sons 01 F150 5.4L. The last 8 years of its life was never really taken cared of. Mother in law had it after my father in law passed. 1100 oci on the Valvoline Restore and Protect and the oil looked dark with a slight transparency. Next spring I’ll do its third round.

I’ve got a ‘99 5.4 my son has been short tripping to death for the last year or two. About to do another change of Valvoline Restore and Protect, think it’s around 192k now.

First hand experience with Euro (and diesel) oils - my '97 Jetta with 2.0L engine, it was very very clean at 110k miles or so when I pulled valve cover, used almost exclusively xW-40 Mobil 1 prior to that, and 15w-40 during first two years as that's what dealer used during free maintenance.
Valvoline Restore and Protect took one OCI to rid of oil use in Sportage.
Hmm, yes, they are all snake oils.
