Emissions and clamps

Replaced a charcoal canister and a couple switching valves on a Toyota and the issue of new clamps and the types of clamps arose. Factory unit provided many new clamps, mostly the hog ring compressible style. Old rusted and failing clamps on the other ends of the hoses however were all over the map (style and condition).
Are "fuel injection" style the best way to go?
What type of "grease" (if any) do you use on vacuum hose inlets to assist in securing the hose?

I've only replaced various fuel injection hoses on a couple of vehicles, and on both I used screw/band or screw/wire type clamps because that's what was there before. These were older vehicles though, and didn't have any spring type clamps on them at all (not even on the radiator hoses.

Spring types prevent over tightening, and give nice even pressure for smaller hoses and lines.
I wouldn't use grease. Maybe a little WD40 if it is tough to get on.
