My big gripe about any of the electronics on any cars since they started adding electronic power train controls, is the secrecy, everything is a black box.
And how many computers on a modern car nowadays? There is zero information on what is inside all the little black boxes and how they function.
I mean gosh even for the old almost antique stuff. I would like to know how there are all these outfits that work on ECU's etc. when there is no manufacturer service data available. Or are they just doing things like cap changes and such? You'd have to almost spend as much time as they did to design the things to figure them out, as well as the secret chips on the boards.
