Holy crap, is this all it takes to make racecar?

People would watch just to see which ones would catch on fire.
Just watch "Formula E". (It's the same battery powered nonsense). Basically it's a bunch of old, washed up F1 drivers, that would be sitting in a mansion or a yacht getting wasted, if it hadn't come along to "resurrect" their finished careers that weren't much to begin with.
For "pit stops" they quickly get out and run to another freshly charged car, so they can finish the race. It's almost comical to watch. They have a minimum amount of time they cannot get released under, once they enter the car. This is to insure they have sufficient time to strap into all of their safety gear, before they go whirring off into the distance.

Why don't they just do a quick battery swap like warehouses supposedly do on electric forklifts? Are they afraid the battery could detach in an accident and hurl itself to the stands?
Somehow I'm having a difficult time seeing how this would actually appeal to a bunch of southern redneck guys, with their gals all dressed in low cut tank tops, and cutoff butt shorts with straw cowboy hats and boots.
A bit like a bunch of tattooed WWE / WWF people going to see a Russian ballet performance.

I'm guessing that, along with swapping out the entire car is somehow faster.
If this is where they are heading, Nascar is done.
Reality is NASCAR has had steady decline in fan base since 2005. Clearly more of same is not answer.
They need to work out a pivot.
