Saw that tonight. My wife had a toast to one of the great ones.
It's always tough when you see a hall of fame fade into the either.
Although he has much deserved fame in the racing world, in my opinion he had a very painful personal life. Excluding his life changing head injuries, losing two sons and his marriage isn’t worth his fame and fortune. He smiled and stayed positive in spite of all that.
His Daytona wreck changed NASCAR forever. If that car had gotten over that catch fence, it would have been the biggest racing disaster in history. As was said, NASCAR was much more fun to watch back then.
People can argue for or against restrictor plates, but it was really exciting racing without them.
