Electric chainsaw oilers

So I have a cheapy black and decker LCS1020 which works great for light work and campfire duty. Well after a couple seasons the oiler check valve gummed up. I squirted some silicone oil through it to clear it out but still won’t flow bar oil anymore. And it’s a discontinued part. I figure doing a bypass will lead to constant oil leaks.

Is it worth sourcing a replacement? Do other budget e-saws have this issue? Any light duty options with non-manual oilers?

If you're into a major battery platform (Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, etc.) I would suggest cutting your losses and replace the B&D with a new battery saw.

Picked up a set of their drill and impact some years ago which has worked great for me. Just light duty home owner stuff. Added the 20v swwzall which is fine for my needs. So the chainsaw made sense too.

I actually use their craptastic 20v weed trimmer the most and it works great for me. Nice and light for the wife and pre teen to help with chores.


B&D definitely isn’t top notch but other than this particular oiler issue they all do exactly what I need them to do out of a lightweight cordless tool.

I have seen other passageways in the saw plug up.. up to and including passageways in the bar itself.
