Elderberries!

I have them and let grow from wild. I just cut one down that I already cut down this spring. I'll let it come back again until it gets obnoxious. It's in a prime spot, full sun and good moisture and gets huge. The ones in the shade are just for looks as they won't hardly bloom. But they do trap silt when the river rises too far.

If you know, you know.

Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

Stimulates the immune system, ramping up cytokine production. Beneficial yo thise eith those who have a functionjbgbimmube system but could potentially backfire if you are on immuno-suppressants.

Elderberry syrup, wine and schnapps!
I swear I wasn't lying under the couch with a bottle of elderberry schnapps when I typed that.

I eat them raw but not many. Like my wild cherries and raspberries it's my morning walk snack.
Most people will get nauseated by raw elderberries. They contain a cyanogenic glycoside that gets destroyed by heat. I mean, most people can probably eat a few raw elderberries without ill effects, and a handful not so much.

When we were kids my brother ate mountain-ash berries on a dare and soon after regretted not wearing his brown pants that day.

"But the birds eat them!"
"You're not a bird, you dummy!" :ROFLMAO:
