EGO trimmer adventure

Purchased the EGO string trimmer today. It’s the “16 inch” version model 1623t. Put it together, charged up both batteries, it came with a free smaller 2.5 ah battery in addition to the main 4 ah one.
It trimmed down one side of the driveway, put it down to move something and when I started again it made two jerking moves and went dead. Changed out the battery and still no joy. It was just dead.
Returned it to Lowe’s and got another one and ran it hard for about thirty minutes straight and I must say it is impressive after a rocky start.
It’s heavier than I thought it would be but man it tore into anything in my way. Much better than dealing with mixing fuel and the exhaust. The auto feeder non bump head is a great feature too.
I’m looking to get the bare tool blower next and will be waiting for my 25 year old toro personal pace to die before jumping to a battery mower.

Oh, the irony. Can you imagine your EGO tools lasting 25 years? It's funny, I know.

I have an Ego 650 blower. The battery lasts 11 minutes on full blast.
I have a 20V Dewalt string trimmer, the big 10AH battery lasts a very, very long time. The 4AH battery, not so much. I can't finish the yard with the small battery.

The Ego battery is, I think, 4 years old. It does now lose charge from 5 bars to 2 bars when sitting for 2 months. It ran 13 minutes when new, now 11 minutes. So it's much like the Tesla cars, in the fact that there is some initial battery degradation but now seems to be rock steady at 11 minutes.

In rough numbers, the battery is at 85% of initial capacity after 4 years.
