Egg Nog...love it or hate it?

I like eggnog, but yeah calorie BOMB. Just a little each Christmas. I tried the Almond Breeze kind..............uck, weird.

I really like the Southern Comfort labelled eggnog - no it does not have alcohol (odd right?) and even more odd, it's not as sweet as some of the dairy brands. Hard to find though. I've only seen it in Safeway.

I like to add just a little spiced rum and a little whisky in equal amounts. Just so it's way in the background, maybe 1/2 oz each , and no not to get drunk (that /would be the worst.............die of an alcoholic diabetic coma!!)

Yes the Southern Comfort is my favorite we have it at Kroger here.

Does it come in a glass bottle or paper carton?

And yes, my main issue with store bought nog is the insane amount of sugar in it. I much prefer home made one, but don't always feel like making it.

Just tried it. To me, it tastes just as sweet as any other store bought nog. Have to mix it with milk 1:1 plus some alcohol. :)
Well. Dang, I have not bought any this year, I even compared labels and the So Comfort stuff had a few less carbs...........presumed sugars. I wonder if they changed their formula! Sorry about that.

How is the taste otherwise?

Local dairy amazing Nog on it's own but way more adult beverage with a little rum takes it to another level.

Yes, the stuff that comes in glass bottles is usually as good as you are going to get from the store. Pretty short expiration date, too, which probably means less preservatives. Can't find it around here this year.

Not memorable. Seemed about the same as the one I bought last time, but I don't recall which brand it was. Honestly, they all taste the same to me.

Next time I am making my own from scratch.
That double sucks. I am not going to buy a quart to find out now! I bet they cheaped out.

As far as tasting different, here are the two standards carried everywhere here. I definitely taste the difference.

Old fashion is way better, richer, tastes more spiced.

Both are good spiced up with Henry Clay whisky!

Time for the annual egg nog bump. My local dairy hasn’t started their 2021 egg nog production yet so yesterday my wife brought home a qt of “Promised Land“ egg nog. It was just OK so I’ll wait for my local dairy to crank up for the season. I love the stuff!
