Yeah, most of these folks have a short time frame version of "older" ... My DD is 31 years old. Oh well ...

Keeping a 35 year old sports car running this long is one thing, but keeping a 35 year old POS going, that's a different story.

I have seen a couple in the past week actually, but haven't seen a Corolla of that age in probably 20 years. They all rusted out up here long ago.

Spend some time in Brampton or Scarborough... Lots running around. Don't forget Toyota's commercial of 80% of Toyota vehicles are still on the road after 20 years.

Gokhan isn't the OP.

The problem is he keeps doing all this testing on this car, that uses old technology that isn't applicable to 99.99% of the people on this site. I just don't see the point.

Overkill - You make a valid point; i have no clue who the original poster is.

Patman - come back to me in 30 years & let us know how your vehicles are doing.

2 of my 3 vehicles are worth keeping that long, but only the Corvette will probably still be in my possession by then (my wife has promised the BMW to her son when he finishes university, so we'll be replacing it with a newer BMW at that time)

But my point stands, earlier in this thread he was telling us how 0w40 shows more valvetrain wear than 0w20, which I find to be BS anyways, but even if he did find that to be true on his 85 Corolla, it doesn't translate to pretty much any other car that BITOG members drive. So all of his test results are useless to everyone else but himself.

Sound reasoning, I get you now.
As far as 0w40 vs 0w20 regarding valvetrain wear, I haven't tbe faintest clue.
I change heads and valvetrain hardware so often it's a moot point, for me, personally.

I've got a 2005 Tacoma with 48K miles ... it will probably still be alive in 2055 if there's still gasoline around and if I'm still alive - lol.

It's the guy who made the first post, the guy who started this thread.

You have some time to Google it, so go ahead and come back with some photos.
Porsche has another specification that is required by cars equipped by DPF, a Porsche C30, which is clearly labeled under the hood, in manual etc.
Stick to Corolla, that is limit for you.

And you say you don't troll me. Lol.

No, I am just saying you know probably less about DPF, A40, C30, low SAPS than my 2 1/2 year old son.
There should be a warning for unsuspecting people here about you, to take ANY of your posts in same way they would take posts of, Idk, Alex Jones.

Ya know, I was almost leaning towards your not being a troll, until you brought 2-1/2 yr olds & political diatribe into a 0w40 thread.

Your case for/against would likely be best served by a little less vitriol, and somewhat more humor.

I assume you're Teutonic? A few NGO induced waves back, at least?

With over 12,200 posts you'd think he was a expert on this site....a simply search would answer 99% of his questions. Frankly I don't understand how u people get sucked in to answering his threads. Go ahead and suspend my account again for hurting his feelings....

What politics?
I stay at 2 1/2 year old.
This guy constantly "argues" one thing, and than people take time to present (not him, but people who might take his "word") facts, he just shrugs that off, and moves to another wild assumption. Then, like in case of Porsche A40, tends to distort greatly what he said.
That is how children do. They want one thing, or say one thing, you prove them wrong, they move to another.
Thing is that people come here for advice, and his wild "arguments" might actually do some real damage considering that he spends all day here.

edyvw, your posts and attacks against me are borderline psychotic, and there isn't a single bit of justification for that no matter how you look at it. You don't know anything about me, nor my education (I have a PhD in physics if you want to know), nor my qualifications and skills, and yet, you cherry-pick some vague statement I make, such as the Porsche A40 (all I meant was that a spec meant for one car may not be good for another) and see that statement in whatever way your highly disturbed mind bends it and then make further attacks and assumptions about me (I don't know what DPF, Porsche C30, and low-SAPS are; I have the mind of a toddler, etc.).

All I know about you is that you grew up in the poor communist Yugoslavia where hardly anyone owned a car and then went through the horrors of the Bosnian War. I don't even know if you're a Serb or a Bosniak. You are probably still traumatized by the war and perhaps still having nightmares about it. However, this is no excuse for this disturbing psychotic behavior.

You keep making assumptions about me and my posts, but you're all wrong. You say I spend the all day here and yet you have about twice the number of posts. Why do you have to keep projecting at strangers on what/who/how they are? Why are you singling me out in your attacks?

Please, leave this here. Enough is enough. I am serious. This is highly disturbing. It's some of the worst Internet bullying I've ever seen.
