Thinking about tires on my 96 Mustang... This year they were old- still great shape but the fronts were probably 15 years old and the rears were a good 10 years old. I did scoop up a nice deal on a pair of Nitto 555 G2's which are on the back now and are great.... but Nitto says not to drive or even FLEX the tire if the temp is below freezing.

This car only sees a handful of miles per year but I would like to be able to drive it if needed or desired in any temp so long as the roads are clear of salt. Probably could get away with summer or A/S tires just as well.

Currently looking at maybe the Falken Ziex ZE950 vs the Kumho Ecsta PA51. Any thoughts? Any better choices for the price? I'd love to go with something made domestically but its just not worth spending the money on something which sees so few miles.

The 950 is the old model it was replaced by the 960.

the 950's are $91 at walmart
the Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 at $119
The kumho's are 136 and not worth a premium over either of those.

Well I figure most tires come in multiple sizes but the Mustang runs 245/45r17

yes, most tires come in multiple sizes, and the 96 Mustang was also available with multiple tire sizes. Some even have staggered fitments, where the front and rear tires are different sizes.

However, some tire sizes are weird and don't have a wide selection :sneaky:

For your driving conditions, you should consider the Nokian WRG4. It was recently replaced by the WRG5, but the WRG4 seems to still be available while supplies last. There's also the Falken Aklimate
