out/off: bulk 0w-20 with Ecogard X4610

in/on: 4 quarts Valvoline R&P and 1/2 quart HPL EC30 with OG Fram Titanium FS7317

solid filter minus the ADBV, stiff and wouldn’t return to shape.

Thanks @BrendanC for the c&p. Too bad that one component let down the whole piece. That's a DO NOT BUY given that the ADBV failed within a 5K interval. A stiff ADBV can affect inflow. -ARCO

correct, i don’t buy any nitrile ADBV filters. Silicone only.

If that ADBV failed in 5k they did not get a quality NBR part. This is why I am suspect of overseas suppliers. Originally I was more concerned with the filter media meeting spec. Seems other parts can be an issue. I am sure the U.S. based PGI engineering team would like to know. They were located in West Bridgewater, MA, they may have moved to Taunton.

i’ve seen stiff nitrile ADBV’s in US filters too. stop blaming COO when convenient

Fram makes filters in 2025 that likely have a defective adbv new in the box, and Walmart sells them as ST3614. The adbv may not cover the inlet holes. If the filter is knocked hard enough there is no method to keep the adbv centered even if it accidentally was made right.
I don’t know where the v6 oil filter is located on this Honda, but it may have gotten too hot? Not an excuse for this manufacturer, but they use silicone for better heat resistance.

exactly, fram and purolator have all kinds of QC issues that make filters defective from the beginning.


the filter on this car is hanging down near the passenger control arms away from heat. it was strictly oil temperature that did the ADBV in. I added oil to coolant heat exchanger pads on my accords to help take care of oil temps and warm up.

Not really when faced with a PD oil pump. I'd be more concerned about it working as an ADBV after shutdown.
