eBay (car) bodyparts?

Okay, some a-hole backed into my car and now my rear bumper cover has a dent with paint flaked off and what not. I was thinking of getting an estimate at a body shop to see if it can be repaired, but figured if it can, then labor alone would cost a bunch.

I see some new primered covers sold on eBay for $170 shipped. Are they any good? Would it make more sense to buy an aftermarket cover and have a shop spray it than to have the one I have now repaired? My paint is metallic gray and from what Ive seen in previous paintwork, it's very hard to match. Might just leave it be but it's a huge eyesore.

Don't want to go through insurance since my collision deductible is $250 and I don't want to make another claim on the policy. Don't know who did it.

Have you priced that part from you local Nissan dealer? That place on ebay has a good rating and it sure looks like they have done a lot of business. To bad it has to be shipped by truck instead of UPS. I would probably give that a try and try and find a good body shop to paint it. Surely there are some excellent body shops in FL.

You may see if you have a local Certifit company. They have some almost unbelievable prices on collision parts.

If Certifit.com is representative of what they have in store then I'm out of luck on that one. Will give the store around here a call to be sure though.

OEM parts from Nissan doesn't ever seem to be cheap. Trying find the cheapest route since this will come out of my pocket.

Yeah, there is a body shop that I will use if I decide to fix it. Brought my Civic there when another a-hole took out a rear quarter panel and when they were done, I couldn't tell it was ever damaged.

I got a new-old-stock Ford OEM bumper for my '97 Crown Vic on Ebay for $50 shipped...the guy managed to ship it FedEx by taping it up so it was under the size limit.

The atrocious prices on foreign make parts are why I don't look at foreign. My wife's diamante (good riddance to that car) was $98 for one unloaded caliper, and close to $300 for a starter. Bad as doctor fees.

I've had good luck with the few things I've bought from them. I haven't gone as far as getting hoods or fenders, but the trim pieces I've bought were 1) VERY underpriced and 2) fit and finish just as good as OEM (the particular part was made in Taiwan).
