Found this site with detailed description how to improve your engine. It is now being used in dragracing in the US, amongst others. It's worth to take a look at. Here it is: www.somendersingh.com There are pictures how you do this modification on your own vehicle.

That's one groovy patent. I went to the USPTO site and read the whole 7 pages. Sounds like the rest of the gimmicky tornado/cyclone intake air flow modifications, but inside the engine. The web site claims better performance and fuel economy, reading the patent seems to focus on engine life. It would have to be part of the design of the engine in the first place I would think otherwise you would be taking a little bit of a hit on compression.

PandaBear.
From what I have read on this page, there have not been reported a single "crack" from all the thousands of users in the US and other places. I also read that it is used with great luck in dragracing, and other forms of motorsports. I don't think you investigated the page well enough. Just opening it should not be enough to make such a conclusion. I think it would be worth a try.

I really don't know how could it help performance/economy. Modifying the intake to create less turbulence is good, but I really doubt his design really help.

As we gradually move to direct injection, it will be even less useful (if it is useful in the first place)

Beside, a grove like that will really make it crack in no time.

Gang,

If any of you have a Honda Goldwing 1100, from 1980 on, you have an interior groove running the length of the intake manifold pipes, each from the carb to the cylinder head. I discovered this when I took my carbs off to clean and inspect/rebuild them.

I asked a friend of mine who worked for Honda, as an engineer about it. He was curious also. He got in contact with the motorcycle engine/goldwing group, and was told by the engineer he talked to, that it was to smooth and accelerate the intake charge for more responsive throttle action, torque at lower rpm, and increased horsepower.

On the Goldwings, they had long intake runners, where most all other motorcycle engines had the carbs mounted to the head with usually a short isolator to help with heat and vibration situations in motorcycle engine operation. Honda learned about this groove in the intake tubes, from their motorcycle racing programs and their very intensive study of 4-cycle engine theory and developement research programs. It's HOTROD Stuff!

modification induces risk whether you like it or not... straying from OEM design is a risk, no matter how good of an engineer orinventor you are. You may or may not induce negative results, however.

"[using] Mr. Singh's invention, the yearly national fuel savings
would equal the amount of oil America imports from the Persian Gulf."

ummmm... not so sure.

We are investigating sme real vortex combustor equipment that offers phenominal improvement over traditional combustor designs... however the engine design is radically different as a result.

This may have some use (though not as high as claimed IMO). However Id be hesitant changing existing engines.

Anyway, wasnt similar tech already well established as GM vortec engine technology??? (which does provide HP improvements)??? The grooves or, more importantly, the swirl areas may be in different locations, but the principle seems the same.

looks like someone likes to play with a dremel and combine the results with dragstrip pics.
swirlporting has been around longer than the vortec too.i recall seeing it in my 85 olds 307 when i changed the intake gasket.and i bet thats not the first app either.
bet those sharp edges in the groove contribute to detonation!

This is one of those things that comes back about the time everyone forget about the previous time. Everyone that tried it in twostokedom never saw results. There was even a company making heads for jetski's that made the same huge claims, they quickly faded. Swirl in a intake tract or through a 4 stroke port/valve/combustion chamber is not the same as what this guy is claiming, so to compare it discredits him even more IMO.
