I like the foam ear plugs from Walmart, the Winchester ones. When I was into shooting I'd reuse them too, not sure that they actually wear out (although they probably are not helped by trips through wash&dry). I think I still have some around, but for mowing the yard I just stuff a hunk of Kleenix in each ear--a B&S mower isn't that loud, but just loud enough.
Personally I gave up shooting a couple of guns (and indoor shooting in general) just due to the noise level. It's one thing to put in earplugs, it's another to feel like I need muffs over them.
