MylastUOA was on a Champ Labs-made Super Tech filter 3593A with clicker-style bypass valve. The comments section specifically noted "excellent oil filtration" because of 0.1 insolubles. Someone whould have to prove to me that Blackstone had any axes to grind or that the filter was in bypass mode any significant amount of time. As far as I'm concerned, the dual bogies on this forum - Fram in general, and Super Tech's adoption of clicker bypass valves and, unrelatedly, e-core technology in particular, are blown way out of proportion by people who do know better, but for various reasons (including commercial) delight in stirring the pot to maintain an artificial state of controversy among the easily influenced.

Glad to hear that RayH--I use the same filter on my 2002 Subaru Outback and was beginning to wonder about changing filters because of everything I read here about the clicker bypass valve that the 3935A uses--it's now a moot point since the E-core eliminates the clicker, but now they have the entire E-core design/construction to cast aspersions on! I'm with you, too much hair-splitting and nit-picking here. Frams and E-cores can't be anywhere near as bad as they say with all the years of trouble free miles and long-lived engines out there. (inckuding many of my own over the past 30 years) Oil and oil filters are like beer, they're all good, but some are better than others!
Good post Ray. One of the things that hurts the credibility of those ragging on the E-cores is their initial frothing at the mouth over the plastic center tube, a feature well proven in the cartridge elements. I am not sure if they didn't know about that, or thought they could sneak through a cheap shot at Champ. To think, WIX, Mann, and others building a filter with plastic end caps and center tube.
If a dollar or two per OC is a huge concern (with regards to a filter), ANY oil filter will work. If spending an extra buck or two will not break the bank, you can spring for a Premium Plus, Delco, or similar filter.
I happen to think some beer tastes like urine, but at least they cost less accordingly. Oil and oil filters are worse, because some of the bottom-performing oils and filters cost MORE. I guess it is harder to fool the taste buds than it is to fool the brain. Still, cheap beer still gets you drunk, and even the worst filters still filter oil, so I can see your point.
Oh yeah, and when was the last time you saw a non-"Premium" beer? That word gets seriously abused these days.
