Last week I t-boned a guy who ran a red light, I bounced off of him and then ran into a power line pole. Fortunately I have a dashcam, and recorded the entire thing. I sent the video to the police and my insurance company. But anyway, here are some pics. It was a 2013 Cruze LS with 9000 miles on it.

Well, fortunately it looks like it did it's job, and kept you safe in the accident. With that much damage, I'd be surprised if they didn't just total it out. Glad you are safe. Remember, cars can always be replaced, but you can't.

They did total it out as of yesterday. The car did a very good job of protecting me, and I'm 6'5", 250 lbs. I walked away with a bloody nose. I still have my 2011 LT, not sure what I will replace the 2013 with yet.

LOL that's definitely total, no way is that not totaled.

Please do pull the engine/tranny and sell it to someone who may need it, i would hate to see good power-train go to waste or in the hands of people who are gonna rip off other people.

smart car, you will be totally safe then next time someone runs the red light.

Incredible that a $15-20k car with 9k miles would be totaled with what seems to be a fairly low amount of body damage (yes, I acknowledge that crumple zones crumple and lots of energy was taken up by the vehicle). Makes the dynamics of having/keeping collision/comp different these days... What interests me is if you were the only occupant, why did all the airbags go off? Seems like an expensive proposition...

Anyway, the car did what it was meant to do, so that's good. Glad you're ok.

I'm not sure what the extent of the damage was. I know the engine was leaking oil after the impact. The only airbag that didn't go off was the front passenger airbag.

Glad you're ok! Bet you are glad you had the dash cam, or else the other driver would say his light was green. (I've been considering a dash cam, what brand is yours and how do you like it?)

As far as the total, the sum of front end parts plus doors plus probably subframe and the labor exceed 75 or 80% of vehicle value -- history shows once you get to that level of damage, a repaired vehicle usually has continuing problems related to the accident, powertrain included.

If you liked the vehicle you can always replace with the same. Make sure the other insurance company pays you what it would cost to replace, and know that you can dispute their offers if it is not enough to do so.

I have gap coverage, so it will get paid off.

The dashcam is one I bought from Amazon, Dashcam link

The video quality is fantastic.

There was a study some years ago showed that the total of all parts was about 4-5 times the MSRP of the car.

The front is badly damaged, parts alone probably cost more than $7-8k plus thousands for labor. So the repair total is probably close to a brand new Cruze.

They run red lights here all the time....glad you are okay though!

I'd just go with another Cruze...since the first one took care of you....

The Cruze Diesel is on my list of cars to look at.

Cruze diesel is getting poor reviews. Look for a late 2012 or higher gas Cruze
They changed the tranny to higher gears in late '12...

Car is a plastic shell over a uni-body frame. Even a modest impact breaks the heck out of them.

AC is weak and noisy, plastic is soft, scratches easily, and from 2013 up CD player is deleted.

You can do better...

I can't remember the last time I used a CD player. I use a USB thumb drive for my tunes.

Ummmm...

AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 Playback...and they come with a USB port....right off chevy's website.

I guess much of it depends on what he is looking for- I;ve driven a 2014 LS, and it seems to me they have fixed many of the issues with it....
