There are no 14500 1200 mAh batteries, AFAIK. If someone is advertising them as such, they are most likely lying. Realistically you can expect about 800 mAh out of a 14500 cell.

18650 cells are more common and have higher energy density, so as long as you dont mind the larger size and extra weight, they are great as flashlight batteries. There are also a lot more flashlights out there that use 18650 cells instead of 14500.

There are a ton of different flashlights that take 18650 cells. It mainly depends on what you are looking for... beam pattern, tint color, zooming/non-zooming, number of modes, form factor, etc.

For an EDC light, Convoy S2+ is pretty nice. I have a couple of them. The newest one has an XP-L HI LED and smooth reflector, which gives it a nice balance between flood and throw, IMO. Plus the programmable biscotti UI gives you a lot of options when it comes to the type and number of modes.

I posted a pic in your old flashlight thread...

That's what they say on the battery. But when I put them on the charger it said they were 500 mAh. BTW there UltraFires.

Yes, please stay away from any battery that has the word "fire" on it.

There are some drawbacks to protected cells, so you have to consider your particular application.

Use coupon code MINI100B at check out.

I just grabbed one. Good to take with you when you travel. Just needs a USB port or wall adapter for power.

This one finally made its way from China... it's impressive what you can get for $2 and free shipping. This one is really nice and small enough to throw in the bag when traveling. They also have a 2-bay version for not a whole lot more. This is my second Lii charger. Happy with this brand so far.

I've seen some generally positive feedback on them on BLF, especially considering the price, just as long as you don't mind the low capacity. At least they are not being dishonest with their rated capacity...

I missed this comment earlier. If you have lights that use cells in series, then I think it's safer to run protected cells in them. These Westinghouse cells are unprotected.

Sorry, no experience with aliexpress'es customer service, but the one time I requested order cancellation from gearbest, it went without any issues and the order was cancelled less than 24 hours later. I didn't even need to get in touch with anyone on their end. Sorry you're having issues.

Gearbest does have a live chat option. Have you tried it?

Works fine for me in Firefox, both under Win7 and under Ubuntu.

they are a decent cell for a non demanding light.
lightyears ahead of whateverfire junk.
2a max and they do well.
they sag a bit at 3a in my tests.
the 18500 found alongside these are nice for the 3aaa stuff.
roll up some cardboard and drop it in in place of the 3aaa carrier.make sure you get the 3.7v ones.
