hello everyone
my question is :

i have Mitsubishi l200
manual ask for
hypoid 75w90 gl-4 transmission and transfer case
i'm having hard time to get gl4 only ...

can i use dual gl4/gl5 oils ? for example Total Traxium Dual 9 FE 75W90
it stays for syncro or non syncro gear boxes

and also for the differential (with no LSD)
can i use 80w90 LS? (oil for lsd difs )
is it ok? or should i search 80w90 regular (non lsd ) ?

i see that this Total Traxium Dual 9 FE 75W90 is for both gl4/gl5
but people say that they still use this "reactive sulfur additives" which over time will slowly damage and eat up the syncrho yello metal.
there is no way to know for sure the amount they put in but for this oil to be as well fit the gl5 i guess its higher then gl4 only oil ?
thank you

Total is GL5 even if it says GL4 too, it has strong GL5 additive. Most GL4/GL5 won't damage manual gearbox at low-mid mileage, but it's not innocuous. If manual ask for GL4, then right option is GL4. You have good classic GL4 oils like Castrol Multivehicle 75w90 (Ford, Motorcraft), RedLine MT-90, even other GL4 oils with alternative chemical like Amsoil or Shell.

About LS for differential you can use LS for no-LS type, you can, but again it's not necessary and could be more expensive.

so i checked about this oils
yes they are gl4 and good for synchro yellow metals but they are not for hypoids gear

Not wait. Any GL4 oil is ok for hypoid under low or moderate loads when GL5 is not required. If you check Mitsubishi specs for all these gearboxes R5/V5, transfers and diff you will see Mitsu asks GL4 for gearbox/transfer and GL5 for diffs, forget hypoid word, thing here is API difference. For gearbox and transfer right way is GL4 even if any oil brand says GL4 is not good for hypoid, because it's true only when GL5 is needed.

If this is a transaxle assembly with a hypoid diffy enclosed in the same case, I would use an MTF from this list:

Ford XT-75W90-QGT (Carries a GL-5 rating as well)
Motul MotylGEAR 300 GL-4/GL-5
HPL Manual Transmission Life 75W90 16.8 cSt
