had a nail in my tire. took it off and took it to DT. they were pretty busy which i had expected seeing tommorow is a holiday. took a couple of hours. when i picked up the tire the guy gave me the package for the TPMS kit with the used parts.

they did the TPMS kit when i got the tires installed not too long ago. the guy said they do them now with flat repair also. first time i have expereinced this on a flat repair

Really? So when I change snow tires with all seasons and vice versa I would need new TPMS sensors?

they just used the rebuild kit

Since you didn't mention it I assume it was still FOC as SOP for any DT puncture repair whether tire purchased there or not. Linked are the parts replaced in TPMS service depending on type. IME with DT puncture repair, new valve stem included without tpms as part of puncture repair anyway. When I had puncture repair with rubber type tpms, no charge for rebuild. Really in rubber type very little difference than a valve stem.

The only TPMS I’ve ever had leak was one that was messed with by a tire dealer who also stole the AL cap...

I’d be very angry if they changed it without permission (I was)...

You’re better off with old factory stuff than new aftermarket junk.

...keep buying those newer vehicles and things like TPMS becomes an issue...(as well as GDI and everything else...).

it was free of charge for both the repair and the kit. i had them installed there so not sure if they did it free for non customers. it was the metal rebuild kit.

i have taken it a few times in the past with cars with tpms for puntures and they never replaced the seals.

Yes correct, it is supposed to be a rebuild kit or stem if that style of sensor.

I know that DT RMA puncture repair is free no matter where tire purchased. I'd be willing to speculate that TPMS rebuild kit included if applicable too. As link shows, really not much to it imo.

Yes, a total pain in the backside! Between TPMS, diesel DPFs, and a million nanny warnings on a lot of new vehicles I've seen, I would have no desire to own one. Having to deal with the Ford dealers to get the new ones fixed is bad enough!
