Got up this morning, opened the garage door and saw a screw head in one of my fairly new tires (General Grabber HTS bought end of Oct - 5k) and I thought, well back it out... pssssssss so I ran it back in and headed to DT as soon as I could.
Told them air leaked when I started to back it out, and the fella looked to see if they had a new replacement tire since I had their certificate purchased. I told him it's just a screw and about center on the tread. I would have plugged it myself but thought I could beat the traffic crowd (24 Dec) then get on my way. He was just saying if there was any damage he wanted to be sure he could replace it with a new tire - no questions asked.
So they got the SUV in the bay while I sat outside getting a little warmth from the sun breaking the clouds. I got up and walked over to see how things were going. They were pulling and checking all 4 tires, plus run them on the balance machine.

Just wanted to say the service was impressive (for 1 tire with a screw)checking all tires - but I didn't care for their shiny whatever stuff they put on the tires when it came out the bay. They got on it no questions asked and was looking to honor the certificate if the tire needed replaced + checked all tires + balance check all. I just hope the shiny goop wears fast.
Satisfied with DT service - after all, I wasn't there to buy anything.

Yes - although I got there at a good time, it got busy following right behind me, and instead of attending to just the one tire with a screw, they went the extra beside looking into a replacement tire if needed.
I would not have thought they would get so busy as I figure most would be in a shopping crunch. I was actually surprised how many were there not just for some service, but to buy tires. The parking lot overflowed by the time I left.
I guess many had money left over to buy tires, or figured buy tires now and shop with the leftover money.
I didn't have to have my paperwork on the tires purchased on me - they look it up on the computer database.

They've done me well in the past. I recommend them. Most brick and mortar tire stores nowadays will gladly meet or beat online pricing too.

tires make great Christmas / birthday presents. Ive gotten my mom tires for her birthday twice, she loves it Michelin Pilot Sport A/S then Goodyear Assurance Tripletread.

I was able to give my best friends parents an awesome price on tires for his truck, look up 315/70/17 BFG All Terrain's and tell me that isnt an awesome present.

Yea, I'm the same way now. I'm going to ask them about that and tell them no thanks on the tire rotting shine.

I looked today and that stuff was thrown all over in the wheel wells, and the front threw some back under the doors - they over did it.
We have a storm rolling in for a the next couple days - I hope it washes off the cheap plastic look off - I don't need the Big-Wheel plastic coating on it.
Next time I'll make sure to mention not to have whatever that stuff is put on the tires too.
I used to "No Touch" spray on my 4WD truck tires to clean them - it left a satin clean look.
I would go out to pressure wash them, but it's sprinkling out (about to rain) - besides, it's toasty warm inside and I already had to tip a few after my early morning motorcycle ride to help me thaw.

What concerns me is the fact that some cheap tire shines do in fact remove oils from the rubber and speed up the dry rotting process according to some people. Is Discount doing this in an attempt to sell more tires? I guess we'll know in a few years. If they EVER say anything about tires I've bought that still have tread left but are dry rotting, I'll call them on it.

Sounds like [censored], been using this stuff on all my cars with no dry rotting whatsoever, and you know what they say on some peoples opinions

I wasn't thinking of the stuff rotting the tires - I just didn't like the shiny plastic look. I hope the stuff doesn't case early rot.

You'll all know if it was the tire shine if the outside has dry rot and the inside does not.

I've never seen a good example of this. I think tire shine is just a convenient excuse for people who need something to blame, for something that just naturally happens.
