How we range test​


The Edmunds EV Range Test is designed to give you the most accurate representation of a car's real-world range. Rather than getting on the freeway, setting the cruise control at 70 mph, and driving until the battery is depleted, we follow a strict route made up of 60% city and 40% highway driving, with an average speed of 40 mph. This better represents the actual driving buyers do day to day. We also stay within 5 mph of all posted speed limits, drive each car in its most efficient drive setting, and keep the climate control on auto at 72 degrees.
I mean ok if they use the same methodology between tests, great, we can compare what various models are getting based upon their testing.

But I feel like 100% highway range tests are most people's benchmarks. We all know these cars do great around town. But how far can they get on a road trip, and how long will they take to charge. A 60% city test doesn't tell me much.


They got 365mi with the ugly 18" aero wheels at 70. The 19" wheels dropped 60 miles, wow.

Please give that stuff a rest, it is not funny and just a little childish on your part. The big boys are in and doing a number on Tesla sales and will continue to do so.

I even posted a "just kidding" ;) emoji. And I'm just repeating what others have posted for years, right?
There's room for all makes and models of cars; I love 'em all.

One thing, you are wrong about the big boys. Check your numbers. Anyone else making a profit on their EV business? BYD sold more cars worldwide but Tesla makes more profit. Is anyone else even in the picture profit wise?

And I sure don't see you posting about the continued EV bad rapping.

congrats! that test drive hook is real. since it is at 100k miles, look into changing the drive unit gearbox fluid because they actually have filters and oil that most people ignore. also watch the rear toe alignment or you will be buying new tires every 10k miles.
