Driveshaft ... Question

Hi Guys,

I installed new drive shaft made by EMPI.
Works great ... or almost ...

When I accelerate I get some vibrations ... it not car shaking but I can slightly feel it ? Can this Damage automatic transmission ? or maybe bearing on join shaft ( EMPI after market shaft is not coming with damper maybe that why ? )

Beside when I turn right I get clicking noise ... I guess U get what you pay for ...

I don't plan to replace it until it will stop working for good ...

Is it ok to drive like this no other damage ?

PS, no point sending with for warranty b.c. shipping to US will be more then shaft ...

If it's clicking and vibrating then it's a bad axle and should be replaced soon. The symptoms you're describing are exactly why I replaced the 21 year old CV axle on my '89 Accord. I bought a remanufactured axle for $59.99 from O'reilly's and so far it works perfectly, no clicking or vibrations.

The vibration is really small one only when i accelerate and I'm around 14K rpm's

Clicking again I'm not sure if its just rubbing or clicking I'm lowered ...

Question is if this can damage transmission ...

I'm not sure whether or not this will cause transmission damage, at least it sounds like your vibrations are no where near as bad as mine were. When I would accelerate it would feel like you were driving over a washboard. The clicking is most likely a bad outer joint on the axle.

oh yea ... My vibradion is tiny only on some rpms
It might be motor mount tooo ...

BTW I didnt use grease on part of the shaft that goes in to hub ... Is that ? Ok I don't think that Its necessary ?

What car is it for? If it is a common model I'd just replace it and see how it goes.

Is it rpm specific or vehicle speed specific? If it is rpm specific and throttle specific I'd say it is motor mount. If it is vehicle specific (going downhill vs going uphill, in different gear, etc) then it is likely after the transmission (wheel, tire, bearing, shaft, etc).

What kind of car going 14k rpm? do you mean 1400 rpm? I don't think anything other than motorcycle goes that high.

I just replaced it with EMPI I just don't feel like do it again ..
It would be great if I could drive like this and do it in the future ...

Do you see the same vibration in neutral? having small vibration at certain rpm is normal as the car age. I had that on my cars and fixed it by replacing leaking exhaust gaskets, cleaning EGR/MAP sensors, and replace worn plugs and PCV valve.

Motor mount can be checked with shifting between R and D and check for engine movement.

You got defective axle, have them replace it under warranty with another new one.

Its not worth the shipping ... to US axle was 50 .. shipping will run me this much ...

I will get new one at some point ...

Question is if I Can drive like this ///
