2005 camry. Had the following symptoms:

1. Drivers door window stopped working after overnight park in garage.
2. When key is taken from ignition, the "auto" light on the drivers window switch flashes - on, off, on, off, off, repeat.
3. This continues until the delay in power supply switches off automatically.
4. Disconnected battery for 5 mins.
5. When key was switched to on and taken from ignition again, "auto" light on switch did not flash but was lit up continuously.
6. When auto down detent is pushed for more than a few seconds the "auto" light goes out and starts the blinking cycle again.

To me it looks like there is a circuit breaker kicking out in the door panel. I checked the fuse in the driver's dash compartment, it's ok.

Have the car booked at dealer tomorrow, but would appreciate some advice.

Once you disconnected the battery power, you need to recalibrate the window.

Procedure:
Roll the window all the way down with the button and hold it down for 15 seconds when it reaches the bottom, then roll it all the way up and hold the button in the up position for 15 seconds.

This will atleast get you back to ground one. It may not fix the problem (since it was there before you unhooked battery), but you have to do it anyway whenever power is interrupted. You may luck out, however!

Sounds like it senses the higher current draw of the stalled motor and uses it to signal an auto-down timer to shut off. It also times the time needed for a routine trip up-and-down.

There must be an override. What if you lean on the button for half a minute? What does the manual say?

Well, you tried the calibration and it did not work. Still the same. It probably is the motor going out. Try hitting the door pad while pressing the button. If it starts to work then it is the motor or if you are lucky just a connection.

Thanks for all the tips.

Holding button in does not make a difference.

The dealer managed to fix it. Their advice was that the motor and guide assemblies came out of alignment. Voltage on all lines and motor was Good. They disassembled unit and retightened all the parts after re-aligning the system.

interestingly I could not hear the motor running when the button was pressed. Perhaps it was in Jam protection mode.

I asked what could have made it jam/come out of alignment, they could not really give me any ideas.

FWIW had good service from the dealer. Paid labour and half day loaner - $128. I doubt I could have done a better job. Thankfully no parts needed!
