Drain plug washers, can I stack them? Fumoto Valve install

I know somebody else has done this on their drain valve.

I am installing my new Fumoto valve. The valve has twice the threads that the stock drain plug has.

I know I'm being picky, but I want to drain out as much as possible. So can I stack some washers on the valve threads? The last thing I need is it to leak after I fill the engine with synthetic oil.

I just realized Fumoto glued the darn blue gasket to the valve. It's on there good. Looks like super glue. I called the guy at Fumoto, he said that is normal on some of them. He reccomends using 2 of the blue washer it comes with. He offered to send me one free, but I want to change to oil this weekend.

Anyone know where to get one?

Two washers doesn't sound like a good idea, but I'm not the Fumoto guy, either.
My first thought would be to make careful measurements of the depth of the threads in the oil pan and the angle of orientation of the installed Fumoto with no extra gasket. Then I would drill an appropriately sized hole (3/8"?) in the Fumoto valve's threads at the point where the oil pan threads end.

Do not stack these washers as it could be a leaking source. The inside of your oil pan probably has a nut welded up there anyway and threads might nut intrude into pan. If this is not good enough then put cut-off wheel on your Dremel Moto-tool and make a cross-hatching cut into the threaded end to a depth that will satisfy you.

Double stacking the washers is never a good idea. The washers are made to seal against a solid surface, not another washer. Measure the depth of thread with one washer installed and cut a slot across the threads with a hack saw at the appropriate depth, I would cut two at 90 degrees to each other if I were worried about getting the last few ounces of oil out.

There is no nut in the pan, the threads are really shallow.

I like the idea of cutting slots into the threaded portion. The Fumoto is relatively soft brass, and easy to cut.

I would not use two gaskets; I've tried this on other applications and it dosen't work very well.

By the way, these Fumotos are great. I've used them on all my vehicles for the last several years. They make oil changes fun again.

I am using two washers on my Sure Drain for one vehicle. But it's a bit different. The Sure Drain comes with a copper washer, but my pan had a curve very close to the drain hole and it would not seal, so I added a plastic washer behind the copper washer and it is fine--so far. It has been like that for about 2 years.

I installed a Fumoto on my wife's Honda and only 1 washer will do.

Don't worry about that little left over oil that doesn't drain out.

But I want to worry about the little that doesn't drain out.

The Fumoto guy said I could use 2, so I'm going to try that and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, I'll try cutting the valve.

My preference would be toward cutting the valve, but make sure to clean off the metal shavings/dust well.

Install the Fumoto with 1 washer. Pour some cheap oil and run it for 5 minutes. Let it sit, drain with the Fumoto, then remove and see if any oil is left in the pan. That will answer if you need to do anything else.

I think this is the best idea. Better yet, why don't you install with one washer, run your regular OCI with your favorite synthetic oil and then do like blupupher suggested. No oil wasted and you can then decide if you need to modify. Voila!

I'd stick that thang on a vice and slice the end of it off with your dremel. At the appropriate spot, of course. Clean up the end with a nut that fits, and screw it in there.
