I was just curious if anyone on this forum participates and/or watches drag racing? If you participate, what class do you run in?

I like watching it, but I don't participate in it... Been to a few strips in my lifetime and watched/smelled it in real time!

Several years ago my friends and I went to Woodbridge weekend nights in the summer. In the industrial factory side roads they used to set up and race illegally when the weather was clear. You'd see things like an S2000 vs Mustang, M5 vs. S4, [censored] civic against [censored] 5.0 camaro.

And then people would hear choppers overhead and start driving off,

I was probably there with my Cousin racing his Cobra which is all done up to look stock but is a high 11 1/4 mile car. We would smoke cars regularly and be laughing all the way to the bank...

Only for Fuel classes.

I watch every one.

US Nationals this weekend. The big one!

I watch every NHRA event on TV. Love top fuel and funny car. I try to get to a live event each year.

In high school I drag raced a 1966 Olds 442 in the Chicago area at Oswego and U.S. 30 dragstrips for several years. 12.77 at 109.64 mph was my best.

I watch every national event and attend at least one each year. I also go to testing weekend in Phoenix the last weekend in Jan. Not too many people there and great access to the crews. You can stand in the staging lanes and talk to any driver or crew chief you'd like!

I'd like to take my car to a dragstrip sometime just for giggles.

On TV I catch it if not much else is going on.

I've gone to the Mile Hi Nationals a few times. Those top fuel cars are wicked! You don't so much hear them as feel them. It kind of vibrates you as they go down the track.

I've been drag racing since 1991 and I love it! I don't participate in any sanctioned events though, I just like to go on test and tune days and have fun. I have done a few bracket events here and there though, and have a couple of 1st and 2nd place trophies from them. I haven't been racing as much in the past few years though, I used to go about 3-4 times a year, but since I got the Corvette I've only gone about once a year. It's pretty close to stock (just a Vararam cold air intake and custom tuning) and has run a best ET of 12.81 at 109.4 mph.

In run in street class, it is a two hour drive to the track. The vast majority of Mustang owners I know run this class too.

I try to make it to the IHRA Nationals every year, and I've been to Grand Bend as well. By far my favourite track.

Favourite class is Pro Stock Mountain Motor. Nothing like 800+ ci running bottom 6's on motor.

Yea man, but those engines are 800 cubic inches. That's not impressive. A 1.6L Honda with 800 horsepower is MUCH more impressive.

different strokes for different folks. I can appreciate any well engineered car, no matter where it came from or what it is. I know a guy who built an 11sec 1.6L AWD civic. still knocked down close to 30mpg, daily driver. it might still be on his website, www.epictuning.com

Love to watch NHRA drag racing on TV. I go up to Commerce,GA every
year to smell the nitro. I use to run in "super gas" class for many years but quit after too many birthdays. Most fun I ever had.

I used to race my 5.0 Mustang and Vette at Moroso (now PBIR) in West Palm Beach. I sometimes go on Friday night for Test & Tune.

They have more than just 1/4 mile racing at this track.

Test and tunes are by far my favorite. That's when you see a lot of really fast street cars; from turbo mustangs, to souped up Vettes, to 9 second sleeper Civics.
