Dr. Colorchip Paint Repair System?

Anyone used Dr. Colorchip Paint Repair System? It is a two step process to repair paint chips. Use their special color matched paint. Then wipe with their leveler/blender. A kit costs $39. Another brand touchup 123 works in a similar fashion. Sounds interesting.

Found out the touchup 123 brand apparently works well for some and for others the paint does not stay in the chips when trying to remove the excess paint. No harm to finish in any case. Still looking for Dr. Colorchip users. BMW factory in South Carolina had Dr. Colorchip to a demo session and there were supposedly many positive responses.

I have used Langka in the past...you fill the chip with OEM touchup paint, let it dry for about 1 day, then use the langka chemical to buff down the paint blob. Worked great on my Z3, VW's, and Acuras! A deep chip might take two "tries" to fill completely, then a little "3M perfect-it" and wax to finish.

This is different. wipe on/wipe off. Even so, I have used a homemade "langka" system. Used finger nail polish remover (weak acetone) on blobs and polish off with a small flat object wrapped with a soft small weave cloth like a t-shirt. Others have used 3M wax and adhesive remover. Seems like the same process as Lanka. Opinions?

The wipe-off method seems like it would work fine as well, the special tool is basically just a squeegee.

Not sure what the special ingredient is in the langka kit, just some kind of paint softener...only affects the fresh paint in the chip, not the baked on color coat of the car...so your DIY approach is probably the same.

From my readings/surfing the web, my initial conclusion is that Dr. ColorChip and Touchup123 concept is great. However, it seems very dependent on type/size of chip/scratch, color of vehicle and skill/patience of the user to get a good job. For the time being, I am not going to try either one as they cast abut $40 each. Might try is less than $20. IMO, just not ready for most users.

I plan to use my BMW touchup paint, thinned and applied/built up with a very small artist brush and then "leveled" with my own DYI leveling system. Final polish/sealant and repair will look fairly well.
