Just double checking
PF63 is just a long version of the PF64?

Interchangeable if no interference issues….?

The PF64 ( Fram 12060) and the PF63 ( Fram 15075) are very close in bypass pressure). The PF63 is a bit longer than the PF64. I just installed a PF64 on a Chevy 1.5 liter Turbo and there was lots of room to screw on a PF63.

I no longer work at GM so I can't access the exact service bulletin but a pf63 is a longer pf64 and aside from dimensionally are interchangeable. The pf48 has a lower bypass pressure and is not considered interchangable although physically all three will screw onto each other's mounts.

From the factory vehicles that spec a PH63 filter usually come with a PF64 that has a red label on it telling you the proper replacement is a PF63.

UPF48/64/63 are the "high performance" versions with a black can.. I don't know the detailed specific differences other than the case was far more solid than a PF63 and it was stated in the bulletin detailing the differences that one of the goals with the UPF line was to increase burst strength... never seen a filter burst even on a cold start at -40 but presumably GM has. The UPF line filters are better. They are all interchangeable with their PF equivalents. However when I was at the dealership still, a PF63 was roughly $9 whereas a UPF63 was around $36.

V6 Traverses for some reason called for a UPF63... my dealership would just install PF63 during free oil changes... I don't agree with that because I assume there is a reason they specifically called out a UPF63 but I also can't say there were any issues due to it. Even when warranty claims on the engine were involved. I don't think GM made a typo because it called for a UPF63 up to 2021 when I left

I think it's because the UPF series has a much thicker, stronger can & baseplate, to better stand up to the pressure pulses from the stronger oil pump. Believe there were some issues with the early PF63 & PF64 Ecore filters, that's why they switched to metal end caps (AFAIK).
