Double Bucket Overrated?

So I was watching YouTube (dangerous thing to do!) and here is what I was watching:

This kind of makes sense, but you would need a big collection of wash mitts, but is this really better than a simple rinse bucket? I know this is down the rabbit hole some..

I don't bother with two buckets but do use a grit guard, rotate between two wash mitts, and, most importantly, carefully rinse the car before washing. I also use a foam cannon to apply an initial layer of suds before the mitts touch the paint. I also wash the mitts after every car wash.

But do you launder your wash mitt after each use?

Do you generously use 3-4 gals of solution per wash, or do you wash using a small 1-2 gal bucket?

Do you pre-treat and pressure wash the areas of heavy grime?

Lots of factors that will influence the results.
Yesthe wash mitt is washed after every single use and air dried. No the car is not pressue washed because it is a "garage queen" I have a 20x20 awning that wash the car under so it isnt in direct sun. I use 2 5 gallon pails one with a grit guard and change the water out on each side. The car is then dried with a my hose attatchment on my shop vac that is only use for car detailing. My GTO is 1 of 741that is phantom black mettalic with a black interior, if I could park it in the living room I would. I was going to heat and a/c the garage, but my wife/accounting department vehelently shut down that idea for some stange reason. Women just don't understand.

IMO you would be better suited using ONR and one bucket with multiple plush towels to wash your car. Don't even need to pull it out of the garage.

I must wash my cars too often. I can never even see sediment below the grit guard. I don’t see an advantage to using 2 buckets unless really dirty or mud. Mud would be a definite 2 bucket wash. I also don’t know why you would wash the mits. Soap and water is all that is in a washing machine. I bucket wash and rinse the mits before putting away. That last years that way. The washing machine wrecks them

I use one bucket and a grout sponge with Meguiars Gold Class. I've tried microfibers and they seem to hold on to the dirt more than the grout sponge. The grout sponge is easily rinsed.

Since I live in the desert, and in my area we have constant wind, my cars always have dirt on them. So I cant ever wash them too much, and the buckets usually always dirt in them under my grit guards.. This is why this is something I am thinking about..

Do you clean your house? Shower?
I clean my house, and I shower so not to be confused with people from other countries that feel showering is optional. Cars are vehicles to serve me, not I them. Nobody cares if my cars are dirty or pristine showroom new. I'll wash them the day before I sell them. You can waste your time your way, and I'll do something of value with mine.,,,

That's fine, you see your vehicle as a tool, nothing wrong with that.

I mean I still try and take care of my tools even a little bit though. They don't go into the toolbox covered in greasy palm prints for example, but I don't really care if one gets a ding.

Bucket with grit guard? $10 max. Peace of mind you're reducing potential swirls and damage? Priceless. It works, it's been shown and proven.

What do car washes use, one or two buckets ?. Last time I took my car to a car wash I drove out the other end before they could wipe it down . That was at least 10 years ago.,Still looks shiny. Next wash will be before I sell it. Why do all that extra work for nothing?.,,,
It's not for nothing, if you think it is you need to educate yourself on preventative maintenance and maintaining the health and longevity of paint.

I wouldn't buy my car of someone who doesn't take care of the paint by regularily washing and waxing it. Paint is like skin. Needs to be tended to due to the harsh environmental factors. You wear sunblock? Well a car needs to be waxed regularily to protect from UV rays and the other nasty stuff.

To each their own, but dang, I feel sorry for whoever buys the car off you due to the negligence you put on the paint.

Really, you wouldn't buy a car because the car wasn't all nice and shiny? You sound like a fly-by- night used car lot owners dream.,,,

Like I said before, your free to waste your time your way, I'll do something better with mine.,,

Did I say it has to be nice and shiny? I said that if I found out the owner did not wash and wax the car on a regular basis I would not be interested. If they can't bother with the simple things of car ownership who knows what else they skimp on. Just because you can't see paint damage, doesn't mean it's not there, this is a basic principle.

I buy used cars, that too I ensure the due diligence has been done when it comes to interior and exterior items, just have to be patient when looking. I don't go for half assed maintained cars, says more about the owner than the car.

I tend to agree. I have the same feeling about burnt out lights, mismatched tires, etc. It just shows they probably don't take as much care as they could.
